Sahih al-Bukhari 6535 (Book 81, Hadith 124) #6284
Purification Before Entering Paradise

SUMMARY: This hadith explains that believers will be purified and cleansed from wrongs they have committed in the world against one another before being admitted into Paradise.

Narrated Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri: Allah's Messenger said, "The believers, after being saved from the (Hell) Fire, will be stopped at a bridge between Paradise and Hell and mutual retaliation will be established among them regarding wrongs they have committed in the world against one another. After they are cleansed and purified (through the retaliation), they will be admitted into Paradise; and by Him in Whose Hand Muhammad's soul is, everyone of them will know his dwelling in Paradise better than he knew his dwelling in this world".

QUICK LESSONS:
Treat others with kindness & respect; Forgive & repent; Cleanse yourself of your sins

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith explains that believers will be purified and cleansed from wrongs they have committed in the world against one another before being admitted into Paradise. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said that after believers are saved from Hell, they will be stopped at a bridge between Heaven and Hell where mutual retaliation will take place for any wrongdoings done to each other. After this process of purification, they will then be allowed to enter Heaven. This hadith teaches us the importance of forgiveness and repentance as it is only through these acts that we can cleanse ourselves of our sins and ultimately gain entry into Paradise. It also reminds us to treat others with kindness, respect, and compassion as we never know when we may need their forgiveness or mercy in return.
