Sahih al-Bukhari 6204 (Book 78, Hadith 228) #5957
The Prophet's Love for 'Ali

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ showed great love and care for 'Ali by calling him Abu Turab and comforting him when he was feeling angry.

Narrated Sahl bin Sa'd: The most beloved names to 'Ali was Abu Turab, and he used to be pleased when we called him by it, for none named him Abu Turab (for the first time), but the Prophet. Once 'Ali got angry with (his wife) Fatima, and went out (of his house) and slept near a wall in the mosque. The Prophet came searching for him, and someone said, "He is there, Lying near the wall". The Prophet came to him while his ('Ali's) back was covered with dust. The Prophet started removing the dust from his back, saying, "Get up, O Abu Turab!"

QUICK LESSONS:
Show kindness even in moments of distress.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks of the immense love and care that the Prophet Muhammad had for his companion Ali. It is narrated that Ali was feeling angry one day and so he left his house to sleep near a wall in the mosque. When the Prophet heard of this, he went searching for him and found him with his back covered in dust. He then proceeded to remove the dust from Ali's back while calling him "Abu Turab". This shows us how much love and compassion the Prophet had for all of his companions, even when they were feeling down or upset. He showed them kindness even in their moments of distress which is something we should all strive to do as well.
