QUICK LESSONS:
Name yourselves after the prophet .

EXPLANATIONS:
The hadith narrated by Abu Huraira states that the Prophet advised people to name themselves after him, but not to use his Kuniya. A kuniya is a nickname or title given to someone in Arabic culture. It is usually composed of two parts; the first part being ‘Abu’ which means father of and the second part being a name of one of their children. For example, if someone has a son named Ali then their kuniya would be ‘Abu Ali’ meaning father of Ali. In this hadith, the Prophet was advising people not to call themselves by his kuniya as it could lead them into believing they are equal or superior in status than him which is wrong according to Islamic teachings. This hadith teaches us that we should respect and honour our beloved prophet and never think ourselves as equal or superior than him in any way whatsoever.
