Visiting the Sick and Dying

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ visited a Jewish boy who was ill and asked him to embrace Islam, which he did. He also visited his uncle Abu Talib when he was on his deathbed.

Narrated Anas: A Jewish boy used to serve the Prophet and became ill. The Prophet went to pay him a visit and said to him, "Embrace Islam," and he did embrace Islam. Al-Musaiyab said: When Abu Talib was on his deathbed, the Prophet visited him.
حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ أَنَّ غُلاَمًا، لِيَهُودَ كَانَ يَخْدُمُ النَّبِيَّ فَمَرِضَ‏.‏ فَأَتَاهُ النَّبِيُّ يَعُودُهُ فَقَالَ ‏ "‏ أَسْلِمْ ‏"‏‏.‏ فَأَسْلَمَ‏.‏ وَقَالَ سَعِيدُ بْنُ الْمُسَيَّبِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ، لَمَّا حُضِرَ أَبُو طَالِبٍ جَاءَهُ النَّبِيُّ ‏.‏

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith tells us about the importance of visiting those who are sick or dying. It is narrated by Anas ibn Malik that a Jewish boy became ill and the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ went to visit him and asked him to embrace Islam, which he did. The Prophet ﷺ also visited his uncle Abu Talib when he was on his deathbed. This hadith teaches us that we should be kind to those who are in need of help, especially if they are sick or dying, regardless of their religion or beliefs. We should show compassion towards them and try our best to help them in any way we can. Additionally, this hadith encourages us to spread the message of Islam by inviting others to accept it as their faith as well.
