Sahih al-Bukhari 5196 (Book 67, Hadith 130) #4976
Wealth and Poverty in Paradise and Hell

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) saw that the majority of people who entered Paradise were the poor, while the wealthy were stopped at the gate for their accounts. He also saw that most of those entering Hell were women.

Narrated Usama: The Prophet said, "I stood at the gate of Paradise and saw that the majority of the people who entered it were the poor, while the wealthy were stopped at the gate (for the accounts). But the companions of the Fire were ordered to be taken to the Fire. Then I stood at the gate of the Fire and saw that the majority of those who entered it were women".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about wealth and poverty in relation to paradise and hell. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said he stood at the gates of both paradise and hell, and noticed a pattern among those who entered each one. He saw that most of those entering paradise were poor people, while wealthy people had to wait at the gate for their accounts to be checked before they could enter. On the other hand, he noticed that most of those entering hell were women. This suggests that wealth does not guarantee entry into paradise, but rather it is piety which matters more when it comes to salvation on judgement day. Furthermore, this hadith serves as a warning for women to be mindful of their actions since they are more likely than men to end up in hell if they do not follow Islamic teachings properly.
