Sahih al-Bukhari 510 (Book 8, Hadith 157) #493
The Magnitude of Passing in Front of Prayers

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the magnitude of sin a person commits when they pass in front of another person who is praying.

Narrated Busr bin Sa'id: that Zaid bin Khalid sent him to Abi Juhaim to ask him what he had heard from Allah's Messenger about a person passing in front of another person who was praying. Abu Juhaim replied, "Allah's Messenger said, 'If the person who passes in front of another person in prayer knew the magnitude of his sin he would prefer to wait for 40 (days, months or years) rather than to pass in front of him". Abu An-Nadr said, "I do not remember exactly whether he said 40 days, months or years".

QUICK LESSONS:
Respect those who are worshipping Allah by not passing in front them while they pray.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks to the importance of respecting those who are praying. It teaches us that if we were to understand the magnitude of our sin if we passed in front of someone while they are praying, we would choose to wait for 40 days or months or years rather than do it. This shows us how serious this action is and how important it is for us to respect those who are worshipping Allah by not passing in front of them while they pray. We should also be mindful that our actions have consequences and that even small things can have big impacts on our lives.
