Sahih al-Bukhari 4884 (Book 65, Hadith 404) #4665
Destruction of Palm Trees by Allah's Messenger

SUMMARY: Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) destroyed the palm trees of Bani An-Nadir, and Allah revealed a verse in response to this action.

Narrated Ibn 'Umar: 'Allah's Messenger burnt and cut down the palm trees of Bani An-Nadir which were at Al-Buwair (a place near Medina). There upon Allah revealed: 'What you (O Muslims) cut down of the palm trees (of the enemy) or you left them standing on their stems, it was by the leave of Allah, so that He might cover with shame the rebellious'. (59:5)

QUICK LESSONS:
Seek guidance from God before taking any actions .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about an incident that occurred during the time of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ when he ordered his companions to cut down and burn the palm trees belonging to Bani An-Nadir, a Jewish tribe living near Medina. In response to this action, Allah revealed a verse in the Quran which states that whatever Muslims did was by His leave so He could cover those who were rebellious with shame. This hadith teaches us that we should always seek guidance from God before taking any actions as He knows what is best for us and will provide us with wisdom if we ask Him for it. It also reminds us that God has power over all things and can use even our mistakes for His own purposes if He wills it.
