The Punishment of Thumama bin Uthal

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) sent some horsemen to Najd and they brought a man called Thumama bin Uthal from Bani Hanifa. He was then fastened to one of the pillars of the mosque.

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Messenger sent some horse men to Najd and they brought a man called Thumama bin Uthal from Bani Hanifa. They fastened him to one of the pillars of the mosque.
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ، يَقُولُ بَعَثَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ خَيْلاً قِبَلَ نَجْدٍ، فَجَاءَتْ بِرَجُلٍ مِنْ بَنِي حَنِيفَةَ يُقَالُ لَهُ ثُمَامَةُ بْنُ أُثَالٍ، فَرَبَطُوهُ بِسَارِيَةٍ مِنْ سَوَارِي الْمَسْجِدِ‏.‏

This hadith is about the punishment that was given to a man named Thumama bin Uthal from Bani Hanifa.
