Sahih al-Bukhari 4594 (Book 65, Hadith 116) #4377
The Revelation of a Verse on Striving for Allah

SUMMARY: This hadith explains how the verse in the Quran about believers who strive and fight in the cause of Allah was revealed.

Narrated Al-Bara: When the Verse:--"Not equal are those of the believers who sit (at home)," (4:95) was revealed, the Prophet said, "Call so-and-so". That person came to him with an ink-pot and a wooden board or a shoulder scapula bone. The Prophet said (to him), "Write: 'Not equal are those believers who sit (at home) and those who strive and fight in the Cause of Allah". Ibn Um Maktum who was sitting behind the Prophet then said, "O Allah's Messenger ! I am a blind man". So there was revealed in the place of that Verse, the Verse:--"Not equal are those of the believers who sit (at home) except those who are disabled (by injury, or are blind or lame etc) and those who strive and fight in the Cause of Allah". (4:95)

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about how a verse from the Quran was revealed to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. The verse talks about believers who strive and fight in the cause of Allah, which is known as Jihad. It also mentions that not all believers are able to do this, such as those who are disabled or blind. This hadith teaches us that we should strive for Allah even if we have physical limitations or disabilities, and that it is important to be active in our faith by doing good deeds and helping others. We should also remember that everyone has different abilities, so we should not judge someone based on their physical capabilities but rather focus on what they can do with what they have been given.
