The Battle of Badr and its Significance

SUMMARY: Believers who participated in the Battle of Badr are not equal to those who did not.

Narrated Ibn 'Abbas: Not equal are those believers who sat (at home) and did not join the Badr battle and those who joined the Badr battle.
حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُوسَى، أَخْبَرَنَا هِشَامٌ، أَنَّ ابْنَ جُرَيْجٍ، أَخْبَرَهُمْ ح، وَحَدَّثَنِي إِسْحَاقُ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ الْكَرِيمِ، أَنَّ مِقْسَمًا، مَوْلَى عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ ـ رضى الله عنهما ـ أَخْبَرَهُ ‏{‏لاَ يَسْتَوِي الْقَاعِدُونَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ‏}‏ عَنْ بَدْرٍ وَالْخَارِجُونَ إِلَى بَدْرٍ‏.‏

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of participation in battles for believers. It was narrated by Ibn 'Abbas that those believers who took part in the Battle of Badr were not equal to those who stayed at home. The Battle of Badr was a significant battle between Muslims and Quraysh polytheists which took place on 17th Ramadan 2 AH (624 CE). It is considered one of the most important battles in Islamic history as it marked a major turning point for Muslims, leading to their eventual victory over Quraysh polytheists. This hadith highlights the importance of taking part in battles for believers and encourages them to participate actively when needed. It also teaches us that we should be willing to make sacrifices when necessary, even if it means putting our lives at risk, as this will bring us closer to Allah and His rewards.
