The Revelation of Verse 3:128

SUMMARY: This hadith is about how Allah revealed a verse in the Quran to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) after he cursed some people during his prayer.

Narrated Salim's father: That he heard Allah's Messenger , when raising his head from bowing of the first rak'a of the morning prayer, saying, "O Allah! Curse so-and-so and so-and-so" after he had said, "Allah hears him who sends his praises to Him. Our Lord, all the Praises are for you!" So Allah revealed:-- "Not for you (O Muhammad! ).(till the end of Verse) they are indeed wrong-doers". (3:128)

QUICK LESSONS:
Leave matters up to God and trust His judgement . Be kind and forgiving towards others . Praise Him always .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about an incident that happened when Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was praying. After finishing the first part of his prayer and praising Allah, he cursed some people. Then Allah revealed a verse in the Quran to him as a reminder that it is not for him to curse anyone but rather leave it up to Allah. The verse was 3:128 which states “Not for you [O Muhammad], but for Allah is the decision whether He should punish them or forgive them or have mercy upon them”. This teaches us that we should not take matters into our own hands and instead leave it up to God who knows best what will happen with each person. We must also remember that no matter how much someone has wronged us, we must still be kind and forgiving towards them as this is what God would want from us.
