The Power of Supplication

SUMMARY: Supplications at two times are rarely turned down, after the Adhan and during battle.

Sahl bin Sa'd (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah said, "Supplications at two times are never turned down (or said, "Are seldom turned down"), a supplication after the Adhan has been proclaimed, and a supplication during the battle combating the enemy". Abu Dawud.

QUICK LESSONS:
Make du'a to Allah sincerely at all times
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks to the power of supplication, or du'a in Arabic. It is a reminder that when we make du'a to Allah, it is never turned down. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us that there are two times when our supplications are especially powerful - after the adhan has been proclaimed and during battle with an enemy. The adhan is a call to prayer which happens five times a day in Islam and serves as a reminder for Muslims to turn towards Allah in prayer and supplication. During battle, Muslims often turn towards Allah for strength and protection from their enemies. This hadith reminds us that no matter what situation we find ourselves in, if we turn towards Allah with sincere hearts then our prayers will be answered by Him alone.
