EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith, narrated by Abu Hurairah, speaks about the importance of fasting and praying in the month of Muharram. Fasting is an act of worship that Muslims do to draw closer to Allah. It involves abstaining from food, drink, and other physical desires from dawn until sunset each day during a certain period of time. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said that the best month for fasting after Ramadan is Muharram because it has many virtues associated with it. Additionally, he said that night prayer or salat al-layl is better than any other type of salat or prayer because it brings one closer to Allah as well as providing spiritual benefits such as peace and tranquility. Therefore, Muslims should strive to observe both fasting and praying in this blessed month so they can reap its rewards both in this life and hereafter.
