Eating with Etiquette

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught us to not leave food for Satan and to glean the pot as blessings may lie in any part of the food.

Anas (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Whenever the Messenger of Allah ate food, he would lick his three fingers and say, "If anyone of you drops a morsel of food, he should remove any dirt that may have stuck on it and then eat it, and should not leave it for Satan". He also commanded us that we should glean the pot, saying, "You do not know in which part of your food the blessings lies". Muslim.

QUICK LESSONS:
Remove any dirt before eating dropped morsels ,glean pots/bowls .

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught us many lessons about how to eat properly. He said that if we drop a morsel of food on the ground, we should remove any dirt that may have stuck on it and then eat it. This is so that we don't leave anything for Satan. He also said that when eating from a pot or bowl, we should make sure to get all of the food out by gleaning it - meaning scraping around the edges - because you never know where in your meal lies the blessings from Allah! These teachings remind us to always show respect for our meals and thank Allah for His blessings.
