The People of Allah

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught that Allah has His own people among mankind, who are the people of the Qur'an, the people of Allah and those closest to Him.

It was narrated that Anas bin Malik said: "The Messenger of Allah said: 'Allah has His own people among mankind'. They said: 'O Messenger of Allah, who are they?' He said: 'The people of the Qur'an, the people of Allah and those who are closest to Him'."
حَدَّثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ خَلَفٍ أَبُو بِشْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ بُدَيْلٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ ـ ‏"‏ إِنَّ لِلَّهِ أَهْلِينَ مِنَ النَّاسِ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَنْ هُمْ قَالَ ‏"‏ هُمْ أَهْلُ الْقُرْآنِ أَهْلُ اللَّهِ وَخَاصَّتُهُ

This hadith teaches us that there are certain people who are special to Allah. These special people are those who read and understand the Quran, those who worship and obey Allah, and those who strive to be close to Him. It is important for us to remember that we should always strive to be one of these special people in order for us to gain favor from Allah. We can do this by reading and understanding the Quran, worshipping Him with sincerity, and striving hard in our efforts towards being close with Him through prayer and good deeds.
