The Consequences of Lying About the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ)

SUMMARY: Lying about the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) is a major sin and will result in punishment in Hell.

It was narrated from that Jabir said: "The Messenger of Allah said: 'Whoever tells lies about me deliberately, let him take his place in Hell".
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ، زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ ـ ‏ "‏ مَنْ كَذَبَ عَلَىَّ مُتَعَمِّدًا فَلْيَتَبَوَّأْ مَقْعَدَهُ مِنَ النَّارِ
