Worshiping Allah and Avoiding His Displeasure

SUMMARY: Allah is pleased with those who worship Him, take hold of the rope of Allah together, and give good counsel to those in authority. He is angry with gossiping, squandering property, and asking too many questions.

Malik related to me from Suhayl ibn Abi Salih from his father from Abu Hurayra that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "Allah is pleased with three things from you, and He is angry with three things from you. He is pleased that you worship Him and do not associate anything with Him, and that you take hold of the rope of Allah altogether, and that you give good counsel to the one to whom Allah gives command over you. He is angry with you for gossip, squandering property, and asking too many questions".

QUICK LESSONS:
Worship only God without associating anything else with him ; Take hold of the rope of allah together as a community ; Give good counsel to those in authority over you .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us that we should strive to please Allah by worshipping Him without associating anything else with Him, taking hold of the rope of Allah together as a community, and giving good counsel to those in authority over us. We should also avoid displeasing Him by refraining from gossiping about others, squandering our property unnecessarily or extravagantly, and asking too many questions that are not necessary for our faith or worldly life. We should remember that pleasing God brings us closer to Him while displeasing God distances us from His mercy and blessings.
