Charity from Hair Weighing

SUMMARY: Fatima, the daughter of the Prophet Muhammad, gave away an equivalent weight of silver in charity for each of her children's hair.

Yahya related to me from Malik from Jafar ibn Muhammad that his father said, "Fatima, the daughter of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, weighed the hair of Hasan, Husayn, Zaynab and Umm Kulthum, and gave away in sadaqa an equivalent weight of silver".

QUICK LESSONS:
Give charity or sadaqah whenever possible .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith tells us about a charitable act done by Fatima bint Muhammad - daughter of Prophet Muhammad - may Allah bless him and grant him peace. She weighed her children's hair - Hasan, Husayn, Zaynab and Umm Kulthum - then gave away an equivalent weight in silver as charity or sadaqa. This teaches us that even small acts can be turned into something meaningful if we put our hearts into it. It also shows us how important it is to give charity or sadaqa as much as we can because it is a way to please God Almighty. Furthermore this hadith also encourages us to be generous with our wealth no matter how little it might be because even small acts can have great rewards when done with sincerity for God's sake.
