Generosity of Abu Bakr as-Siddiq

SUMMARY: Abu Bakr as-Siddiq was generous and fulfilled the promises made by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to Jabir ibn Abdullah.

Yahya related to me from Malik that Rabia ibn Abi Abd ar-Rahman said, "Property was sent to Abu Bakr as-Siddiq from Bahrain . He said, 'If someone had a promise or a pledge with the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, let him come to me'. So Jabir ibn Abdullah came to him, and he gave him three times as much of it as would fill both hands'.'

QUICK LESSONS:

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the generosity of Abu Bakr as-Siddiq. He was sent property from Bahrain and he asked anyone who had a promise or pledge with the Messenger of Allah to come forward so he could fulfill it. Jabir ibn Abdullah came forward and Abu Bakr gave him three times more than what would fill both hands. This shows us how generous and kind Abu Bakr was in fulfilling his duties towards others even though it wasn't his responsibility to do so. It also teaches us that we should be honest in our dealings with others and keep our promises no matter what happens because this is a sign of good character which will be rewarded by Allah SWT in this world and hereafter.
