Praying at Sunrise and Sunset

SUMMARY: Umar ibn al-Khattab warned against praying at sunrise or sunset, as it is a time when Shaytan is active.

Yahya related to me from Malik from Abdullah ibn Dinar from Abdullah ibn Umar that Umar ibn al-Khattab used to say, "Do not intend to do your prayer at either sunrise or sunset, for the horns of Shaytan rise with the rising of the sun and set with its setting". Umar used to beat people for that kind of prayer.

Be mindful of your actions and avoid doing anything which could lead you astray during times when Shaytan is active .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith was narrated by Yahya from Malik from Abdullah ibn Dinar from Abdullah ibn Umar. It states that Umar ibn al-Khattab used to warn people against praying at either sunrise or sunset because the horns of Shaytan rise with the rising of the sun and set with its setting. He would even beat people who did so. This hadith teaches us that we should be mindful of our actions and avoid doing anything which could lead us astray during times when Shaytan is active. We should also be aware that Allah knows all our intentions and will judge us accordingly for any wrongdoings we commit in His name.
