Praying in Congregation

SUMMARY: Abdullah ibn Umar used to visit Abdullah ibn Safwan and pray two rakahs with them, then they would stand and complete the prayer.

Yahya related to me from Malik from Ibn Shihab that Safwan said, "Abdullah ibn Umar used to come and visit Abdullah ibn Safwan and he would pray two rakahs with us, and when he went away we would stand and complete the prayer".

QUICK LESSONS:
Offer guests an opportunity to join you in your prayers

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the importance of praying in congregation. It is narrated by Yahya from Malik from Ibn Shihab that Safwan said that when Abdullah ibn Umar visited him and his family he would pray two rakahs with them. After he left they would stand up and complete their prayer together as a congregation. This hadith teaches us the importance of praying together as a community rather than individually. It also shows us how important it is to be hospitable towards our guests by offering them a chance to join us in our prayers.
