Increase in Prayer When Settled

SUMMARY: The prayer was originally prescribed as two rakahs, but when settled, an increase was made in the prayer.

Yahya related to me from Malik from Salih ibn Kaysan from Urwa ibn az-Zubayr that A'isha, the wife of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "The prayer was prescribed as two rakahs, both when settled and when travelling. Then the travelling prayer was kept as it was, and an increase was made in the prayer when settled".

QUICK LESSONS:
Pray regularly even if you are not travelling . Obey Allah's commands .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of prayer and how it has been prescribed by Allah. It states that originally the prayer was two rakahs whether one is travelling or settled. However when one is settled an increase has been made to the prayer. This means that more than two rakahs are required for a person who is not travelling and this shows us how important it is to pray regularly even if we are not travelling. It also teaches us that Allah knows what’s best for us and He can change His commands whenever He wishes to do so for our benefit.
