Praying Without Wudu

SUMMARY: Uthman ibn Affan prayed without doing wudu after eating bread and meat, rinsing his mouth out, and washing his hands.

Yahya related to me from Malik from Damra ibn Said al-Mazini from Aban ibn Uthman that Uthman ibn Affan ate bread and meat, rinsed his mouth out, washed his hands and wiped his face with them, and then prayed without doing wudu.

QUICK LESSONS:
Maintain good hygiene practices such as washing your hands regularly after meals or using hand sanitizer when necessary

EXPLANATIONS:
Uthman ibn Affan was a companion of the Prophet Muhammad who demonstrated an example of how to pray without performing wudu. After eating bread and meat he rinsed his mouth out and washed his hands before wiping them on his face. This is an example of how one can pray without performing the ritual ablution known as wudu. It is important to note that this was only done by Uthman in this particular instance as it is generally recommended to perform wudu before prayer in order to be spiritually cleansed for the act of worship.

This hadith also teaches us about cleanliness and hygiene which are important values in Islam. Cleanliness is seen as a sign of faithfulness while uncleanliness can lead to spiritual impurity or even physical illness if not taken seriously. Therefore it is important for Muslims to maintain good hygiene practices such as washing their hands regularly after meals or using hand sanitizer when necessary.
