The Righteousness of 'Amr bin al-'As and His Family

SUMMARY: This hadith speaks of the righteousness of 'Amr bin al-'As and his family.

It was narrated that Ibn Abi Mulaikah said: Talhah bin 'Ubaidullah said: I do not usually narrate anything from the Messenger of Allah , but I heard him say:' 'Amr bin al-'As (رضي الله عنه) is one of the righteous of Quraish". "Abdul Jabbar bin Ward added, narrating from Ibn Abi Mulaikah, that Talhah said: "How good are the family: 'Abdullah, the father of 'Abdullah and the mother of 'Abdullah'.
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ، حَدَّثَنَا نَافِعُ بْنُ عُمَرَ، وَعَبْدُ الْجَبَّارِ بْنُ الْوَرْدِ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ، قَالَ قَالَ طَلْحَةُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ لَا أُحَدِّثُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ شَيْئًا إِلَّا أَنِّي سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ إِنَّ عَمْرَو بْنَ الْعَاصِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ مِنْ صَالِحِي قُرَيْشٍ قَالَ وَزَادَ عَبْدُ الْجَبَّارِ بْنُ وَرْدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ عَنْ طَلْحَةَ قَالَ نِعْمَ أَهْلُ الْبَيْتِ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ وَأَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ وَأُمُّ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ‏.‏

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the righteousness of a man named Amr bin al-'As from the tribe of Quraish. It was narrated by Ibn Abi Mulaikah, Talhah bin 'Ubaidullah and Abdul Jabbar bin Ward that they heard Prophet Muhammad say that Amr is one of the righteous people from Quraish. Furthermore, Talhah added that how good are Amr's family - Abdullah, his father and mother. This hadith teaches us to appreciate our families for their goodness and righteousness as well as to recognize those who are righteous in our society regardless of their background or tribe. We should also strive to be righteous ourselves so we can be an example for others in our community.
