Sahih al-Bukhari 3664 (Book 62, Hadith 16) #3499
The Strength of Abu Bakr and Umar

SUMMARY: This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) seeing himself in a dream drawing water from a well, and then Abu Bakr and Umar taking over to draw more water for the people.

Narrated Abu Huraira: I heard Allah's Messenger saying, "While I was sleeping, I saw myself standing at a well, on it there was a bucket. I drew water from the well as much as Allah wished. Then Ibn Abi Quhafa (ie Abu Bakr) took the bucket from me and brought out one or two buckets (of water) and there was weakness in his drawing the water. May Allah forgive his weakness for him. Then the bucket turned into a very big one and Ibn Al-Khattab took it over and I had never seen such a mighty person amongst the people as him in performing such hard work, till the people drank to their satisfaction and watered their camels that knelt down there".

QUICK LESSONS:
Helping others out no matter how small or big our contribution may be

EXPLANATIONS:
In this hadith, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was dreaming of himself standing at a well with a bucket in his hand. He was drawing as much water as Allah wished him to draw. Then, Abu Bakr took over the bucket from him and drew one or two buckets of water but he was weak in doing so. After that, Umar took over the bucket which had become very big and he drew enough water for everyone to drink their fill and also for their camels to quench their thirst. This hadith teaches us that we should always help each other out no matter how small or big our contribution may be because it all adds up in the end! It also shows us how strong both Abu Bakr and Umar were when it came to helping others out even though they were weak individually.
