Musnad Ahmad 478 (Book 4, Hadith 72) #34146
The Power of Wudu and Prayer

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught that if one performs wudu and then prays two rak'ahs, their previous sins will be forgiven. He also warned against becoming complacent.

It was narrated that Humran said: Uthman was sitting in alMaqa'id. He called for water and did wudoo’, then he said: I saw the Messenger of Allah doing wudoo' in this place where I am sitting then he said: "whoever does wudoo’ as I have done, then gets up and prays two rak'ahs, his previous sins will be forgiven". And the Messenger of Allah said: 'Do not become complacent'.

QUICK LESSONS:
Perform Wudo followed by praying two Rak'ahs with sincerity seeking forgiveness from Allah .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us the power of wudu and prayer in seeking forgiveness from Allah. It was narrated by Humran that Uthman was sitting in alMaqa'id when he called for water to perform wudu. After performing his ablution, Uthman said he saw the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) doing wudoo in the same place where he was sitting. The Prophet then said that whoever does wudoo as he did and then gets up to pray two rak'ahs, their previous sins will be forgiven. Additionally, the Prophet warned against becoming complacent with this act of worship as it is not a guarantee for forgiveness but rather an opportunity to seek it from Allah through sincere repentance and devotion to Him alone.
