Musnad Ahmad 354 (Book 2, Hadith 259) #34034
The Consequences of Wailing Over the Deceased

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught that the deceased will be tormented in their grave due to being wailed over.

It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar, from his father, that the Prophet said: 'The deceased is tormented in his grave because of being wailed over'. Al-Hajjaj said: '.because of the wailing over him'.

QUICK LESSONS:
Practice patience when dealing with death instead of resorting to wailing or other forms of grief which are not allowed in Islam.

EXPLANATIONS:
According to a hadith narrated by Ibn 'Umar, from his father, Prophet Muhammad taught that when someone passes away and is wailed over, they will be punished in their grave. This punishment is due to the fact that wailing over someone who has passed away is considered a sin in Islam as it goes against the teachings of patience and submission to Allah's will. It also causes distress for those who are left behind and can lead them astray from faith. Therefore, it is important for Muslims to remember this teaching and practice patience when dealing with death instead of resorting to wailing or other forms of grief which are not allowed in Islam.
