Be grateful for your blessings; Do not take them for granted; Follow in the footsteps of our beloved prophet; Strive towards humility; Be content with whatever Allah has blessed you with; Do not be greedy or covetous when it comes to material possessions.

This hadith speaks to the poverty of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). It was narrated by Simak bin Harb that he heard an-Nu'man - ie, bin Basheer - say that Umar mentioned what people had acquired in terms of worldly gains. He then went on to describe how the Messenger of Allah remained curled up with hunger pangs all day and unable to find even the worst type of dates with which to fill his stomach. This hadith serves as a reminder for us all that we should be grateful for our blessings and not take them for granted. It also teaches us humility and reminds us that no matter how much wealth we have or acquire in this world it will never compare to what Allah has given us in terms of faith and guidance. We should strive to follow in the footsteps of our beloved prophet by being content with whatever Allah has blessed us with and not be greedy or covetous when it comes to material possessions.
