QUICK LESSONS:
Avoid swearing or taking oaths using one's father as a reference point, use respectful language when expressing oneself .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of not swearing by one's father. It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas said that Umar was on a campaign with the Messenger of Allah, and he swore saying "No, by my father". A man behind him called out saying "Do not swear by your fathers." When Umar turned around, he saw it was the Messenger of Allah himself who said this. This shows us how important it is to avoid swearing by our fathers as it can be disrespectful and dishonourable towards them. We should instead use other words such as “No” or “By God” when expressing ourselves in order to show respect for our parents and those around us.
