EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of following the verse of stoning for adulterers, as it was practiced by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). It was narrated that Yahya said he heard Sa'eed bin al-Musayyab say that 'Umar said to beware of neglecting this verse, lest someone say they do not find two hadd punishments in the Book of Allah. Hadd is a punishment prescribed by Allah and qasamah refers to an oath or promise. In this case, it refers to an oath taken on a certain punishment prescribed in Islam. Zinaa’ means adultery or fornication and stoning is one form of punishment prescribed in Islam for those who commit zinaa’. Therefore, this hadith emphasizes on not neglecting the verse which prescribes stoning as a form of punishment for those who commit zinaa’ so that no one can claim there are no two punishments mentioned in Quran regarding such cases.
