The Effects of Grieving on the Deceased

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ taught that the deceased will be tormented by the crying of their family.

It was narrated from 'Umar that: The Prophet said: "The deceased is tormented because of his family's crying for him".
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ، أَخْبَرَنِي نَافِعٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، عَنْ عُمَرَ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ قَالَ يُعَذَّبُ الْمَيِّتُ بِبُكَاءِ أَهْلِهِ عَلَيْهِ‏.‏
