The Size of the Prophet's Cistern

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) compared the size of his cistern to the distance between two cities.

It was narrated from Anas that the Messenger of Allah said: "The distance between the two ends of my Cistern is like the distance between San’a and Al-Madinah,’ or 'between Al-Madinah and 'Amman.’"

QUICK LESSONS:
Strive for excellence in all aspects of life.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about a comparison made by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). He compared the size of his cistern to that of two cities. The first city was Sanaa', which is located in Yemen and is known for its ancient architecture and monuments. The second city was Al-Madinah, which is located in Saudi Arabia and is known as one of Islam's holiest sites. By comparing these two cities to his own cistern, he showed how large it was. This hadith also teaches us that we should strive for excellence in all aspects of our lives - even something as seemingly mundane as a water storage container! We should always strive to do our best and make sure that whatever we do meets high standards.
