Sunan Ibn Majah 4265 (Book 37, Hadith 166) #33621
Praying for a Good Life and Death

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) advises us not to wish for death due to any harm that befalls us, but rather to ask Allah for a good life and a good death.

4265 It was narrated from Anas that the Messenger of Allah said: "None of you should wish for death because of some harm that befalls him. If he must wish for death, let him say: 'O Allah, keep me alive so long as living is good for me and cause me to die when death is good for me.’"

EXPLANATIONS:
In this hadith narrated by Anas ibn Malik, the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) teaches us an important lesson about life and death. He advises us not to wish for death due to any harm that befalls us in our lives. Instead of wishing for death out of despair or sadness over something bad that has happened in our lives, we should pray to Allah asking Him to keep us alive as long as living is good for us and cause us to die when it is time. This hadith reminds Muslims of the importance of having faith in Allah's plan and trusting Him even during difficult times. It also encourages people not give up hope but instead turn towards prayer as a source of comfort and strength during hard times.
