The Power of Names

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad changed the name of Umar's disobedient daughter to Jamilah, which means beautiful.

It was narrated from Ibn Umar that: "a daughter of 'Umar was Asiyah(disobedient) then the Messenger of Allah named her 'Jamilah' (beautiful)".
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُوسَى، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّ ابْنَةً لِعُمَرَ، كَانَ يُقَالُ لَهَا عَاصِيَةُ فَسَمَّاهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ ـ جَمِيلَةَ
