Beware of Associating with Masruq bin Adja'

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) warning against associating with Masruq bin Adja'.

It was narrated that Masruq said: "I met 'Umar bin Khattab and he said: 'Who are you?' I said: 'Masruq bin Adja''. 'Umar said: 'I heard the Messenger of Allah saying,"Ajda' is a devil".
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَقِيلٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مُجَالِدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ، قَالَ لَقِيتُ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ فَقَالَ مَنْ أَنْتَ فَقُلْتُ مَسْرُوقُ بْنُ الأَجْدَعِ ‏.‏ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ـ ـ يَقُولُ ‏ "‏ الأَجْدَعُ شَيْطَانٌ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is a warning from the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). He warned against associating with Masruq bin Adja'. Umar bin Khattab asked who Masruq was and he replied that he was Masruq bin Adja'. The Prophet then said that Ajda' is a devil. This hadith teaches us to be careful of who we associate ourselves with, as it can have an effect on our faith and beliefs. We should always strive to surround ourselves with people who are good influences and will help us stay on the right path.
