In this hadith narrated by Jabir, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ instructed the people of different regions on where to begin their Talbiyyah. He said that for those in Al Madinah it should start at Dhul Hulaifah; for those in Sham it should start at Juhfah; for those in Yemen it should start at Yalamlam; for those in Najd it should start at Qarn; and for those in the east it should start at Dhat Irq. After giving these instructions he then turned towards the eastern horizon and asked Allah to make their hearts steadfast. This hadith teaches us that we must be mindful of our religious obligations even when travelling or living away from home. It also shows us how important prayer is as a way of asking Allah’s help and guidance during difficult times.
