Reciting the Talbiyah at Dhul-Hulaifah Mosque

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) would recite the Talbiyah when he mounted his riding beast from the mosque of Dhul-Hulaifah.

It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar that when the Messenger of Allah put his foot in the stirrup and his riding beast rose up with him, he would say the Talbiyah from the mosque of Dhul-Hulaifah.
حَدَّثَنَا مُحْرِزُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ الْعَدَنِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الدَّرَاوَرْدِيُّ، حَدَّثَنِي عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ـ ـ كَانَ إِذَا أَدْخَلَ رِجْلَهُ فِي الْغَرْزِ وَاسْتَوَتْ بِهِ رَاحِلَتُهُ أَهَلَّ مِنْ عِنْدِ مَسْجِدِ ذِي الْحُلَيْفَةِ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith narrates that when the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was about to mount his riding beast from the mosque of Dhul-Hulaifah, he would recite a special prayer known as ‘Talbiyah’. This prayer is a special supplication to Allah and is usually recited during Hajj or Umrah pilgrimages. It is also recited by Muslims in other situations such as when they are travelling or embarking on any new venture. The hadith teaches us that we should always remember Allah and seek His help in all our endeavours and activities. We should also be mindful of our actions and words while in places of worship like mosques so that we can gain maximum benefit from them spiritually.
