The Dust of Jihad and Smoke of Hell

SUMMARY: Jihad in the cause of Allah is a noble act and will never be combined with the punishment of Hell.

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Prophet said: "The dust (of Jihad) in the cause of Allah and the smoke of Hell will never be combined in the interior of a Muslim".

QUICK LESSONS:
Strive for good deeds .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about how important it is to strive for good deeds, such as jihad, in order to please Allah. It also warns us against doing bad deeds that could lead us to punishment from Allah. The Prophet Muhammad said that these two things - striving for good deeds and being punished by Allah - can never happen at once within a single Muslim person. This means that if we strive for good deeds, then we will not be punished by Allah; instead, He will reward us with His mercy. We should always remember this when we are tempted to do something wrong or when we feel like giving up on our efforts to do something right.
