Stoning for Sins of People of Lut

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ commanded that those who commit the same sins as the people of Lut should be stoned.

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Prophet said concerning those who do the action of the people of Lut: "Stone the upper and the lower, stone them both".
حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الأَعْلَى، أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ نَافِعٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَاصِمُ بْنُ عُمَرَ، عَنْ سُهَيْلٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ فِي الَّذِي يَعْمَلُ عَمَلَ قَوْمِ لُوطٍ قَالَ ‏ "‏ ارْجُمُوا الأَعْلَى وَالأَسْفَلَ ارْجُمُوهُمَا جَمِيعًا

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about a command from the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ concerning those who do the action of the people of Lut. The Prophet ﷺ commanded that those who commit these sins should be stoned, both upper and lower. This punishment is meant to serve as a deterrent for others so they will not follow in their footsteps and commit similar sins. It also serves as a reminder to all Muslims that Allah has set limits and boundaries which must not be crossed, and if they are, there will be consequences. This hadith teaches us about accountability for our actions, justice, mercy, and respect for Allah's laws.
