Working Hard for Chastity & Food

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) recited the story of Musa (A.S) and taught that one should be willing to work hard and sacrifice for their chastity and food.

It was narrated that 'Ali bin Rabah said: "I heard 'Utbah bin Nuddar say: 'We were with the Messenger of Allah and he recited Ta-Sin. When he reached the story of Musa, he said: 'Musa (A.S) hired himself out for eight years, or ten, in return for his chastity and food in his stomach'. "
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُصَفَّى الْحِمْصِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا بَقِيَّةُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ، عَنْ مَسْلَمَةَ بْنِ عُلَىٍّ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ، عَنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، عَنْ عُلَىِّ بْنِ رَبَاحٍ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عُتْبَةَ بْنَ النُّدَّرِ، يَقُولُ كُنَّا عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ فَقَرَأَ طسم حَتَّى إِذَا بَلَغَ قِصَّةَ مُوسَى قَالَ ‏ "‏ إِنَّ مُوسَى أَجَّرَ نَفْسَهُ ثَمَانِيَ سِنِينَ أَوْ عَشْرًا عَلَى عِفَّةِ فَرْجِهِ وَطَعَامِ بَطْنِهِ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the story of Musa in the Quran. The Prophet Muhammad was teaching his companions about how Musa worked hard for eight or ten years in return for his chastity and food. This hadith teaches us that we should be willing to work hard and make sacrifices in order to maintain our chastity and have enough food to eat. We should also strive to have good morals so that we can be successful in our endeavors.

The Prophet Muhammad was emphasizing the importance of having a strong moral character as well as working hard in order to achieve success. He was also teaching us that it is important to take care of ourselves by making sure we have enough food and are able to maintain our chastity even when faced with difficult circumstances or situations. By doing this, we can ensure that we are living up to our full potential as Muslims who strive for excellence both spiritually and physically.
