The Gift of Ruqba

SUMMARY: Gifts given on the basis of Ruqba belong to the recipient, regardless of whether they are alive or dead.

It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar that the Messenger of Allah said: "There is no Ruqba. Whoever is given a gift on the basis of Ruqba, it belongs to him, whether he lives or dies".

QUICK LESSONS:
Give gifts sincerely without any ulterior motives

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about a concept called ruqba, which is a type of gift. According to this hadith, if someone is given a gift on the basis of ruqba, then it belongs to them regardless if they are alive or dead. This means that even after death, the recipient still has ownership over the gift and it cannot be taken away from them. This teaches us that gifts should be given with sincerity and not with any ulterior motives as they will remain with their rightful owner even after death. It also teaches us that we should respect other people's possessions and not try to take away something that does not belong to us.
