Sunan Ibn Majah 2289 (Book 12, Hadith 153) #31641
Activities That Bring Blessings

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught that there are three activities which bring blessings: deferred payment sales, profit sharing, and mixing wheat with barley for personal use.

lt was narrated from Salih bin Suhaib that his father said: "The Messenger of Allah said: 'There are three things in which there is blessing: A sale with deferred payment; Muqaradhah (profit sharing); and mixing wheat with barley for one's house, but not for sale"'.

QUICK LESSONS:
Engage honestly and fairly when doing business transactions

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us that there are three activities which bring blessings. The first is a sale with deferred payment, meaning a sale in which the buyer pays the seller at a later date. This type of transaction allows people to purchase items they need without having to pay all at once. Secondly, Muqaradhah is an agreement between two parties in which one party provides capital and the other provides labor or expertise in order to share profits from any venture they undertake together. Lastly, mixing wheat with barley for one's own house can also bring blessings; however this should not be done for sale as it would be considered fraud. These teachings remind us of the importance of being honest and fair when engaging in business transactions so that we may receive Allah’s blessing in our lives.
