QUICK LESSONS:
Give obligatory charity according to Islamic teachings

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the Islamic practice of zakat, which is an obligatory charity given by Muslims. In this hadith, the Prophet Muhammad sent Mu'adh bin Jabal to Yemen with instructions on how much zakat should be taken from different types of produce. For produce irrigated by deep roots such as wells or springs, one-tenth should be taken as zakat. For produce irrigated by buckets such as canals or rivers, one-half of one-tenth should be taken as zakat. This hadith teaches us that it is important for Muslims to give their obligatory charity in order to help those in need and fulfill their religious obligations. It also shows us that we must pay attention to detail when giving our charity so that it is done correctly according to Islamic teachings.
