Following the Teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)

SUMMARY: This hadith is about the importance of following the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and not attributing false statements to him.

It was narrated that 'Abdullah bin 'Amr Al-Qari said: "I heard Abu hurairah say: 'No, by the Lord of the Ka’bah! I did not say: "Whoever wakes up in a state of sexual impurity (and wants to fast) then he must not fast". Muhammad said it.’"
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ، قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ جَعْدَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو الْقَارِيِّ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ، يَقُولُ لاَ وَرَبِّ الْكَعْبَةِ مَا أَنَا قُلْتُ: ‏ "‏ مَنْ أَصْبَحَ وَهُوَ جُنُبٌ فَلْيُفْطِرْ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ مُحَمَّدٌ ـ ـ قَالَهُ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith emphasizes the importance of following the teachings of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and not attributing false statements to him. It was narrated by Abdullah bin Amr Al-Qari that he heard Abu Hurairah say that he did not make a statement attributed to him that whoever wakes up in a state of sexual impurity should not fast. Rather it was said by Prophet Muhammad ﷺ himself. This hadith teaches us to be careful when quoting or attributing any statement to our beloved prophet ﷺ as we must ensure its authenticity before doing so. We must also strive to follow his teachings and example in our daily lives as this is one way for us to gain Allah’s pleasure and mercy in this world and hereafter.
