Sitting with Care at Funerals

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and his companions went to a funeral and sat down around the grave as if they were being careful not to disturb any birds that may have been perched on their heads.

It was narrated that Bara’ bin 'Azib said: "We went out with the Messenger of Allah for a funeral, and we came to a grave. He sat down and we sat down, as if there were birds on our heads".

QUICK LESSONS:
Show respect when attending funerals by sitting quietly and carefully so as not to disturb anyone or anything in the vicinity.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about showing respect when attending funerals. The Prophet Muhammad and his companions went to a funeral and sat down around the grave as if they were being careful not to disturb any birds that may have been perched on their heads. This shows how important it is for Muslims to show respect when attending funerals by sitting quietly and carefully so as not to disturb anyone or anything in the vicinity. It also teaches us that we should be mindful of our actions even in situations where we are surrounded by death because Allah is always watching us.
