Funeral Prayer for the Dead

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ advised to offer funeral prayer for the dead, either by night or day.

It was narrated from Jabir bin 'Abdullah that the Prophet said: "Offer the funeral prayer for your dead by night or by day".
حَدَّثَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ لَهِيعَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ـ ـ قَالَ ‏ "‏ صَلُّوا عَلَى مَوْتَاكُمْ بِاللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ

This hadith is about offering funeral prayer for the dead. It was narrated from Jabir bin 'Abdullah that the Prophet said that one should offer funeral prayer for their deceased loved ones, either by night or day. This hadith teaches us to show respect and honour to our deceased loved ones and perform their funeral prayers with sincerity and devotion. It also teaches us to be mindful of our religious duties even in difficult times such as when we are mourning a loss of a loved one. Furthermore, it encourages us to be patient during such times and remember that death is an inevitable part of life which will come upon all of us eventually.
