Prohibiting Prayers at Certain Times

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) forbade two prayers, one after the Fajr prayer until the sun has risen and another after 'Asr prayer until the sun has set.

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah forbade two prayers: prayer after the Fajr until the sun has risen, and prayer after 'Asr until the sun has set.
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ نُمَيْرٍ، وَأَبُو أُسَامَةَ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، عَنْ خُبَيْبِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ حَفْصِ بْنِ عَاصِمٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ـ ـ نَهَى عَنْ صَلاَتَيْنِ عَنِ الصَّلاَةِ بَعْدَ الْفَجْرِ حَتَّى تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ وَبَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ حَتَّى تَغْرُبَ الشَّمْسُ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about a prohibition of two prayers, one after Fajr and one after 'Asr. The Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him forbade these two prayers because they are not allowed during certain times of day. After Fajr, which is the morning prayer, it is forbidden to pray until the sun rises. Similarly, it is forbidden to pray after 'Asr until the sun sets in the evening. This hadith teaches us that we should respect certain times of day and not perform our prayers during those times as it goes against Islamic teachings.
