Prayer Direction While Travelling

SUMMARY: The Prophet (PBUH) would plant a small spear in the ground while travelling to use it as a direction for prayer.

It was narrated that Ibn 'Umar said: "A small spear (Harbah) would be brought out to the Prophet when he was travelling; he would plant it (in the ground) to perform prayer while facing it".

QUICK LESSONS:
Remember to take time out for prayers even when travelling . Use any object as reference point if there is no direction available .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks of the importance of prayer and how even when travelling one should not forget to pray. It was narrated that Ibn 'Umar said that when the Prophet Muhammad PBUH was travelling he would bring out a small spear and plant it in the ground so he could face it while performing his prayers. This shows us that no matter where we are or what we are doing, we should always remember to take time out for our prayers and make sure they are done properly with full concentration. It also teaches us that if there is no direction available for prayer then one can use any object as a reference point instead.
