Sunan Ibn Majah 940 (Book 5, Hadith 138) #30292
Praying with Animals Passing By

SUMMARY: It is permissible to pray even if animals are passing in front of you, as long as there is a barrier between you and the animals.

It was narrated from Musa bin Talhah that his father said: "We used to perform prayer while the beasts were passing in front of us. That was mentioned to the Messenger of Allah and he said: 'If something like the hand of a saddle* is placed in front of anyone of you, it will not matter whoever passes in front of him". * It is the piece of wood on the camel saddle which is held on to (to climb onto the camel).

QUICK LESSONS:
Create barriers between yourself and any distractions while praying .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith explains that it is permissible to perform prayer even when animals are passing in front of us, as long as there is a barrier between us and the animals. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used the example of a saddle hand, which is a piece of wood on the camel saddle that one holds onto when climbing onto the camel. This serves as an example for how we can create a barrier between ourselves and any distractions while praying. We should be mindful not to let anything distract us from our prayers, whether it be people or animals passing by.
