Glorifying the Name of Allah

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) instructed his followers to glorify the name of Allah in their Ruku and prostrations.

'Uqbah bin 'Amir Al-Juhani said: "When the following was revealed: 'So glorify the Name of your Lord, the Most Great’,69:52 the Messenger of Allah said to us: 'Say this in your Ruku’.’ And when the following was revealed: 'Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Most High.’87:1 the Messenger of Allah said to us: 'Say this in your prostrations.’"
حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ رَافِعٍ الْبَجَلِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ أَيُّوبَ الْغَافِقِيِّ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَمِّي، إِيَاسَ بْنَ عَامِرٍ يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ عُقْبَةَ بْنَ عَامِرٍ الْجُهَنِيَّ، يَقُولُ لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ ‏{فَسَبِّحْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الْعَظِيمِ}‏ قَالَ لَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ ـ ‏"‏ اجْعَلُوهَا فِي رُكُوعِكُمْ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ فَلَمَّا نَزَلَتْ ‏{سَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الأَعْلَى}‏ قَالَ لَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ ـ ‏"‏ اجْعَلُوهَا فِي سُجُودِكُمْ

We should also be mindful that He is greater than anything else in this world and deserves our utmost respect and reverence. By saying these words, we are reminded to stay humble before Him at all times.
